dave_redmann
Does the selection of color space (sRBG or Adobe RGB) affect the raw (.MCR) files at all?
I suspect that it does not, except to tag the raw files with a color-space preference that DiMage Master Lite (and probably other programs) will, only by default, use to create TIFF's, JPEG's, etc.
Others have reported that using the B&W mode gives you B&W-only raw files. However, this is not true; it just tags B&W as a preference. In DiMage Master Lite, you just uncheck one box (select the raw file, go to View > Photofinisher, click on Filter Effects, and uncheck the Convert to black and white box). I suspect that, likewise, sRGB versus Adobe RGB makes no difference until the raw file is converted to TIFF or whatever.
Why does it matter? Well, the consensus is that Adobe RGB's wider color gamut is preferable, but some printers demand sRGB, and it would be better not to have to make a choice until you want to order a print--preserve the whole 'digital negative' concept as much as possible, and not worry about 'digital film' issues like the color gamut of your 'film'. kiklop
No, color space, saturation, contrast, sharpness .... all those settings aren't important when shooting raw. All raw files are basically grey images and to get anything acceptable they need to be converted to color. Even for B&W mode on some cameras, the data needs to be converted to color image and then converted to B&W. Happy shooting
