vasilis
I just bought a used minolta dimage a2 and I just found out that it has a hot pixel that turns up in most photos. What do you think I should do? 1) return it to the shop I bought it or 2) send it to minolta to remap the sensor or finaly 3)it is so usual that I should just forget it and use the camera. Apart from this problem the camera is fine and I like it a lot....
matt hedgecoe
Is it a faulty pixel or could it be dirt on the sensor? If it is just one pixel, how noticeable is it when you print your images? You could try returning it to the shop, but as it was second-hand they may be unwilling to take it back. Remapping the sensor? I haven't heard of that, but I would have thought it is more likely to be a dead pixel on the sensor rather than a software issue. A lot of it depends on your workflow. If you open your images in Photoshop or similar to tweak them before printing, it shouldn't be too difficult to clone the dead pixel out while you are there. greg_heil1
Wait till Sept 1st and take another shot. If all is well, celebrate!
PS you can hurry that up by temporarily setting the cameras clock forward; take a pic; then set it back. It self remaps on a monthly schedule. vasilis
It is a dead pixel on the sensor but all cameras have them and they are mapped in the factory and the camera discards them and interpolates their values. The the self-remapping every month thing does not work, I tried it. But I returned it on the shop, they gave me the money back and I found it in stock new elsewhere..... so I bought it new.... very good camera
