Stroboframe AT plate for Minolta Drive 1

Anyone here uses Stroboframe bracket? I have a used Pro-T

Stroboframe bracket. I am planning to use the camera quick release

(300 QRC) and an anti-twist plate. It seems that the only AT plate

that fits X700 is the 300 SLR. Click <a

O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=50547&is=REG">here to see the

picture.

However, if I use MD-1, I may not be able to use this AT plate

since the tripod

socket is to the right instead of at center. Can anyone confirm

this? Can you suggest another AT plate or alternative I can use?

For those of you unfamiliar with the Stroboframe system, check

out this thread. There are pictures of the system

setup using EOS.

Thank you,

I use the Siegelite (which I purchased out of NYC for $40.) Simple flip system, heavily constructed. With the MD1, the mounting screw on the Siegelite can be slid all the way to the right, and the bracket plate has a grippy enough rubber that there's no slippage as long as you are careful. I could hold by either the post on the bracket or the grip on the MD1-X700 and the whole unit was stable. Flash was Minolta 360PX with the off camera cable for TTL flash metering. The whole thing works well together.

Mr. Thomas,
The Siegelite seems pretty flexible since it does not care where the tripod socket is but the camera can still be centered on the bracket. However, the flash is not centered or right on top of the lens, whereas on the Stroboframe Pro-T it is centered. Besides, I already own the Stroboframe bracket. I think it's better if I add accessories to this bracket if possible. By the way, is this the bracket you are talking about? Will either the flash or camera flip if you want shoot a vertical frame? Anyway, I really appreciate your input. I might actually check out this bracket in the future.

Antony:
The Nikon AH-3 seems like the perfect solution for my problem. Thanks! :)
The only drawback is that I think it's overpriced for just a piece of adapter. :P
That's alright, I'll get a used one somewhere.

Regards,

Dear Leo,

No, it's the Siegelite Stratos, Adorama sells it for $39.95. The flash does center on top of the lens, and the top arm flips to center the flash over the lens for vertical shots. It lacks the quick release capabilities of the Stroboframe, but doesn't require extra brackets, etc. It works well with the MD1, which is why I recommended it, but of course the Stroboframe is an excellent system also.
