Vivitar 2600-D and Minolta X-370N

Hello :-)

 

My friend has a Minolta X-370N camera that I took to a repair shop to

get fixed, and now it's time to get the flash fixed or replaced. The

flash is a Vivitar 2600-D AUTO THYRISTOR flash. The problem with it

is that the plastic piece that slides into the hotshoe mount on the

camera is broken on one side. The flash still works fine, you just

have to hold it onto the shoe mount.

 

I'm sure the flash is not worth sending off to get repaired, and I

have tried looking for a replacement for the mount on the flash to

replace it myself, but I can't find one.

 

What would be a good flash to replace this flash, something that is

cheap and works well in "auto" mode? Sorry, I don't know much about

minolta cameras or vivitar flashes.

Any auto flash with a standard hot shoe should work fine with your X-370N. Trusted models are Vivitar 283 and 285, as well as Sunpak 383, 433D, 444D, and so on.

Just about anything will work. The X-370N didn't have a dedicated TTL flash, unlike the X-570 & X-700.

 

The 2600 wasn't particularly powerful either, so just walk into your local camera shop and see what they have in your friend's price range. The current replacement for the 2600, is the 2800.

Best would be the Minolta 320 or 320X - price between $15 and $40 on ebay, and full featured with tilt swivel head, 3 auto ranges, full manual down to 1/16th power. It's a great flash.
