daniel_buck1
My friend has a Minolta X-370n, and the trigger to advance to the next frame won't wind all the way. It's as if the shutter hasn't been released from the current frame. The shutter release button does nothing. I don't know much about Minolta cameras (I'm a Canon guy), or really much about the mechanics of cameras in general. My guess is, that something is blocking (or jammed, whatever) the trigger button, and it won't wind to the next frame because it hasn't shot the current frame. I opened the back (the film was already removed) and tried to see if there was anything stuck in there, but it doesn't look like the problem is that simple. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Or is it something that will mostly likely have to be looked at by a shop? Thanks alot!
daniel_buck1
Oh yes, and I did put new batteries in, no change.
pavelp
If you switch the camera off and on and then touch the shutter button to activate metering, do you see the red numbers in the viewfinder? If not, then there is no juice flowing through the camera at all. If you see the numbers, what happens when you push the shutter button (and release it)? I've had similar problem with my X370 and upon pushing the shutter button, the camera just quit and would not come back until I switched it off and on again. I took it to repair shop and they said that solenoid that drives the shutter is dead and needs to be replaced (shutter on X370 is electronic and repairman said the dead solenoid is most frequent problem with X370 shutters). They quoted $40 price, but I also have X700 and was going to sell the X370 anyway, so I left it in the shop for parts (they gave me $20).
daniel_buck1
Yep, that sounds exactly like the problem. I 1/2 click the shutter (after first turning it on) and the red metering numbers show up. When I click it all the way, then the numbers go away. Thanks!
michael_linn
Sounds like the release capacitor, which costs about 25 cents. Try looking at www.kyphoto.com. A search there will give you all of the info you need to repair it yourself if you want to.
garry_airapetov
It's either on-board capacitors or release magnet (most likely). We do service this model.
