jay_walsh
Hi all, I've just spent a frustrating morning trying to order a Canon D60. My original order that I've been waiting on for the past month has suddenly become "ETA unknown" with the possibility of it being discontinued. Calls to about a half a dozen other camera stores (big and small) all say the same thing. I spoke with a woman at Canon that says, "Don't know, that's the first I've heard of it." Has anybody heard anything about this? Thanks in advance, Jay
jay_walsh
Well, looks like my question has already been answered earlier... guess it would've helped to looked before asking. Well, if you've heard anything recent, please jump in.
benjamin_ng
Source: http://nikondigital.org/ "nikondigital.org SCOOP!! Canon drops the other shoe? After repeated news reports that the D60 has been discontinued, we've gotten reports from reliable sources that Canon will be introducing a 4MP D40 and 8MP D80, both of which will be shown at PMA. The D40 is expected to sell for $1400 with the D80 at $1800. This represents yet another price performance milestone in the low-end of the D-SLR market. We'll have more details once they are forthcoming." It would be good if there is really D80, and it would be perfact if the D80 is using a full size CMOS!!! alan_schietzsch
I can confirm that the D60 is indeed discontinued, but Canon refuses to say what the replacement is, and will not confirm (or deny) the rumour of 2 models replacing it. They have said that the new model(s) will be announced March 1 in Las Vegas.
alex_p._schorsch
Benjamin, What the hell do you want a full-size CMOS for? If you want a full size sensor BUY THE 1Ds!!! I'd love to have a the 1.6 crop to keep taking bird shots with my 400 f/5.6 With the D60 it's already a dream, imagine with 8,000,000 pixels! But probably I'll wait for an even denser sensor. Have fun, Alex.
