What lens do I start with?

Ok, got the camera, got the flashes, what lens do I need to do

studio work, team pictures, etc... Mainly looking for two or three

main lens, but tell me what I need. Thanks! Elliott

Team Pictures: 28mm, 35mm, or 50mm

Full Length Portraits: 50mm

Headshots: 85mm to 135mm

 

All should be in the f/1.8 to f/2.8 range or close

Interesting question. For portraits you'll need a 85mm to 100mm focal length lens, either the 85mm f1.7/2 or 100mm f2/2.5. After that it's a personal choice. Consider a 135mm f2/2.8 lens, a 45mm f2 lens (my preference over the 50-55mm series) and a 28mm or 35mm lens, or a 35-70 f4 macro (focusing) lens.

Not that I am very experienced with studio work, but wouldn't that depend on how large your studio is? In a large studio you might want to use a 135mm lens for portraits, while in a small one you might be better off with a 85mm. Similar considerations would apply to group shots and your choice of a wide angle lens.

the mid 70s lenses that i listed are only mc tabed but are high build

If you buy only 2 lenses, either a 24 or 28 and an 85. If you buy 3, a 50, 24 or 28, and then 105 or 135
