barnnies
My SRT201 is taking great pictures, especially close ups. A piece of what looks like spong instulation suddenly shows up in the view finder. I found that it is in the top where the actual viewfinder is and not not included in the photos. It is not near the focus center when looking through and I could live with it. My question is, should I just live with it or is there an easy fix, or no fix at all? Thanks, Dennis
jimvanson
If it's not broken...seriously though, you could probably buy another one for less then the cost of cleaning this one.
taffer
probably it's a piece of the mirror cushion foam. With years, this foam turns into a black goo that when desintegrated falls and sticks to the mirror or the focus screen... with the lens removed, you can always try to locate the spot and if it's placed over the screen or mirror, touch it gently with a Q-tip. As it's so sticky, usually it sticks to the q-tip. Besides, if you're not sure you can locate it or remove it, simply let it stay there, it won't affect your pictures and you can always have it removed later. douglas_green1
I'd clean it if it's accessible. GENTLE use of a Q-tip and alcohol. But if it's above the focusing screen and inaccessible, forget about it.
gary_watson
I'd leave it. Cotton swabs+alcohol usually just spread the gick all over the focus screen, along with cotton fibres, leaving the view worse than before as the sticky bits accumulate even more crud.
