paulferesten
I have a Leica M7 with a .85 finder. I've noticed with 50mm lens that the right side frameline will become dim or disappear at some eye positions. Not sure if this is just due to the angle of view or if adjustment is needed. It's worse when I wear glasses. Thanks
james_elwing
I have had this problem with old M3's. I would just try jiggling / exercising the frame selector lever before I worried too much.
Gus Lazzari
I've pretty much stated this before.
The .85 magnification offered by Leica starting from the M6 models,
don't perform much better than the modern Voigtlander rangefinder offerings...
Ed_Ingold
Leica rangefinders are not very friendly to those who wear glasses. I can't see the entire outermost frame at one time, due to the short eye relief. A working solution is to install a diopter eyepiece which comes close to your "driving" prescription.

The viewfinder could also be out of alignment. The mechanism which masks and reveals different sets of frames can be adjusted. If the frame visibility improves if you jiggle the preview lever (or lens), service might be in order.
paulferesten
Thanks for the responses. I did jiggle the frame selector lever and the lens and it did not change. I am assuming it's not an alignment issue.
mukul_dube
Paul, if one side of the frame becomes thin (not "dim") it's probably improper alignment of the moving plate and the static one. My first M3 had this problem with the 135mm frame but I used it like that for seventeen years.
