Canon FD Photo of the Month: May 2016

It's May Day! Let us make the month of May merry with your photos, FD shooters! We also love FL lens and bodies. In fact we welcome all pre-EOS Canon SLRs and lenses. FD, etc. lenses on mirrorless cameras are absolutely welcomed.

This month I've decided to celebrate the Canon FDn 70-150/4.5. Though not an L lenses it is a stellar performer, as a number of you have pointed out. It build quality is also outstanding.

I shot the following on my Leica 240 via an FD to M adapter. The scene was the pond at Akashi Castle. Cats gather here to be fed by regular feeders. The cats have gotten quite used to me now and shooting with the FDn 70-150/4.5 was easier than before (when I regularly used my FDn 300/5.6). I tanked the ISO up to 1600.

Canon FDn 80-200/4.0-L

Thunderstorms were forecast around sundown the other day, went to a local lake in hopes of seeing something interesting and wasn't disappointed.

This area of the thunderstorm cloud blanket opened up a little, the setting sun poured down through, then it closed back up, all in the space of just a few minutes...interesting action to witness.

It really is amazing...this month of May the plantings at the local Arboretum really explode and I plan to go weekly now for a while...the Canon FDn 70-150/4.5 will be the main lens I use.

Canon FDn 80-200/4.0-L

We’ve all seen the occasional dead log with a few colorful ‘Fungi’ growing on it.
Hiking in to the Osprey nest yesterday I came across a dead-fall, down since my last hike a few days ago.
I have never in my life see a 6’ log with every square inch of it so completely / heavily packed with rows of colorful Fungi.
Light & shadows were playing back and forth over it due to the wind through the overhead tree limbs / leaves.
This one will be going in a 6 slot 8x10 display frame for sure.

So whats the rule here? Do the pictures shown have to be shot during the current month?
At the risk of breaking a rule...

These were shot a long time ago, in a place far away from where I am now (San Diego Zoo, over 1000 miles from here in Colorado...)
T-90 and Canon FD 400mm F4.5 S.S.C.. Shot on some kind of Fuji transparency film and processed at a long gone pro lab.

Thanks Bill, I'll try to remember to post again next month. I don't use my FD gear all that much anymore, got a bit caught up in older film gear, but I've plenty of shots from years of T90 usage.
Still one of my favorite cameras.... really need to get it out again soon.
