tj_cameron
Can someone please tell me that difference between Copal 0,1,2,& 3 shutters?
donald_miller1
The difference is in the diameter of lens cells that can be mounted in the shutter with the 0 being the smallest diameter and the 3 being the largest diameter. For specifics of diameters you might check www.skgrimes.com. Hope this is what you were needing. Good luck. Regards, Donald Miller

philip_glass
Mr. Grimes, What is the size smaller than Copal O in Compur?
johnelstad
And don't forget #00 which is even smaller than 0. It's about 26.5mm in diameter. They're not made anymore, but you'll see them on some of the older (~1960's) Schneiders and perhaps others as well.
s.k. grimes inc
Compur made a #00 size shutter which is no longer available. (Scroll down that page to see a table of dimensions which includes the obsolete #00 size)
dave_t
From a practical perspective, if you're shooting 4x5 then anything in a #3 is going to be pretty hefty (if you're shooting bigger than 4x5 everything is pretty hefty so that becomes a moot point). If you're shooting something in a 00, it may help to have rubber bands/duct tape/prehensile tail/third hand/whatnot handy to keep the shutter open for composition. (At least with mine, are all 00s like this?) Historically, there used to be a #2 size, also #4 and #5. I've never seen any, however.
luc_regnier5
Hey ! Don't forget the different shutter speed between these Copal, from 1/400 to 1/125 ! Bonjour from France

I've done so ever since my prehensile tail was lost in a tragic accident involving a ride on mower and a pair of short pants. Graeme
dave_t
Try using a cable release to lock your [00] shutter open
Mine can't accommodate one, hence the question (the answer to which is evidently no). BTW, sorry to hear about the tail, that must've hurt.
