james_symington1
Hi all, I am toying with the idea of getting back into developing and scanning and I would have access to a Minolta 5400 ( first version). Does anyone know if the software, and indeed the scanner itself, is compatible with the latest version of OSX? I believe it has a USB connection at least. Many thanks, James
wgpinc
I use my KM 5400 first version scanner and have used it on OSX since I got my iMac 7-8 years ago, upgrading the OS several times along the way. I use Silverfast software which I like very much. I have resisted upgrading to the very last version of OSX because it has generated some controversy regarding the latest interface.
PaulCoen
Worst case, you can use it with Vuescan, if the Minolta software won't work. Should work fine with either USB or Firewire.
phil_gunderson
I use Vuescan with my Minolta 5400 on OS X. Additionally, you could create a VM and use an XP guest operating system to run the genuine Minilta software, but, for me, Vuescan is so much faster. james_symington1
Thanks very much. I have a dusty license for Vuescan that must be 10 years old. Time do dig it out again!
