I'm still stewing over my uncanny ability to release the shutter on my long exposures with the remarkable precision necessary to capture exactly ZERO action during the Perseid meteor shower peak the other night. But it was fun to see, if not record, what we saw, and it was a nice night out under the stars after a very hot day. So of course we had to distract ourselves. A little cell-phone-light-painting seemed the thing to do. Dubious astrophotography, anyone? Share!

Matthew Brennan
On Monday I went back to one my favourite places in the forest about hour's drive from my home. I'd not shot any photos at this time of year before (late winter) as was delighted to find the forest lush and dripping with moisture making the colours vibrant and the lighting and atmospherics misty and soft.

This is Houpton Falls on the Aire River

Kent Shafer
This is Curtis, a beagle who was found a few years back wandering a country road, lost and starving. He now has a happy home and a full-time job. He works at his owner's business, where he is in charge of greeting customers and delivery people and general morale building.

Matthew Currie
Going through some old stuff, I came across a trip to Nova Scotia in about 1981. This print was probably a reject at the time, but I've lost all the others. I think this was Cape Breton.

Member69643
Bittersweet

As many of you may know, my beloved Golden Retriever, Fenris, died last month. He was so joyful and full of life and fun, it's been hard to adjust to life without him. Well, I entered two photos in the Iowa State Fair this year. Over the years I've had, like, 3 images picked for exhibit, so it's kind of a big deal when I do actually get one selected. This year I had one, but didn't know which of the two was chosen.

All I can say is, tears welled up in my eyes as Fenris seemed to reach beyond the grave to give me one more gift. And it's a tribute to Photo.net too, as comments about this photo lead me to consider it worthy of entry.

Thank you, my sweet puppytoes. I miss you.

Everyone including me focused on getting photos of Niagara Falls. Here is one of the Niagara river. Taken with my Nikkor 70-300mm with my D810. It is cropped slightly. 1/500s at f8 at 140 mm.
