tara_lunsetter
I unfortunately dropped my Canon T2i camera. A piece came loose out of the mirror area. It is a small grey piece with a comb like silver piece attached. My camera still works, not sure what this piece is for or if needed? I would attach a picture but cannot get it to do so.... any input is appreciated!

JosvanEekelen
The piece looks a bit too large to be missed without any effects. I'd have the camera serviced or the piece replaced before more damage is done.
HenryUK
I've looked in the EOS 550D (world name for Rebel T2i) parts catalogue and can't see anything like this piece.

Have a look for yourself http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1216590

It certainly looks as if it performs some function.

Henry
Mark Keefer
Is it part of the pins from where the Compact Flash memory card plugs in? Side door on camera, open and look in where memory card goes. The camera doesn't work anymore does it?
Cheers, Mark
HenryUK
I agree that it looks a bit like a CF card connector but this camera uses SD cards.
I can't see how it got into the mirror box though. The mirror box is supposed to be a sealed light-tight container.
Perhaps it got lodged there during manufacture?
The OP says the camera still works.

Henry
