marcantel
Kit Lens made in thailand purchased in 09 w/my first digital nikon 3000 is having problems. When I'm using it gets stuck on the hump @ 35mm when I zoom back and forth. If I switch from auto to manual sometimes it's a little easier to go over the hump.I like this lens on my 3000 in P&S mode for my wife to shoot.I know this lens is built w cheap construction but the optics are pretty good.Any Quick fix?
Wouter Willemse
Well, this is what is meant with the cheap construction, I think. I wouldn't try to fix the lens myself, because it's simply not made to be repaired (from the shots I've seen from this lens when taken apart). Or at least, I do not see how doable it'll be to glue it back together with sufficient precision.
You can get these lenses for so little money that the easiest quick fix is replacing it, in my view.
ShunCheung
Right, you have had that lens for 6 years or so? It is about time to replace it. Those lenses with a plastic mount are not designed to last. Repair cost will likely exceed its current value.
chip_chipowski
Danny - you can get a refurbished current VR model for around $100.00. The new lens has helpful VR and collapses down to a very small size.
