hong_wong2
Dear all, I am planning to buy a monopod for my Hasselblad 905SWC & 501CM (with standard lens only). After reading the specifications of the Gitzo G1568 & Bogen 3006, I found out these two monopods (Max load, weight....)are similar except the Gitzo is a cabon fiber but the price is around 4 times more than the Bogen. Any opinion on that? Which one should I buy? Thanks
vgoklani
I have the Gitzo 1564L, which is Aluminum and about half the price for the cabon fiber. I would definitly recommend it!! I also don't think you save too much weight by using carbon fiber over aluminum. If you insist on the carbon fiber, check eBay. There was one that went for $150. Also, from what I have heard, the Gitzo are much more durable than the Bogens. I also prefer the levers on the Gitzo, very easy to use!! Incidentally, I also use the Bogen 3232 head. I think it was designed for a monopod, as you don't need a ball-head in the field. Take a look at: http://reallyrightstuff.com/tutorials/monopods/index.html for more info. -V-
