peter_mcmonigle
I just bought a used Tamron SP 28-75 f2.8 XR Di LD (IF) from a very reputable local (Indianapolis) source. I'm purchasing my first DSLR, a Nikon D7100, later this month. This Tamron is the exact model I'd decided on pairing with it and when I saw it listed in "very good" condition at less than half the price I was planning on paying new, I couldn't resist. The lens looks in great shape; can't wait to try it out.
In all the pictures I've seen of this lens, around the top of the zoom ring, where all the model info is nicely imprinted, the writing is black inside a gold band. But, on the one I just received, the lettering itself is in gold. Does this by chance denote some difference in the lens, itself?
Dieter Schaefer
According to a response from Tamron Europe in this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1401701 there's no difference (except for the lettering, of course).
jim_momary
Some talk here about built in motor vs. not.
https://www.flickr.com/groups/tamron2875mm/discuss/72157632497164799/
I vaguely seem to recall gold lettering being a while back, while the gold band seems to be a newer product appearance.

But, that's only my recollection.

Jim M.
peter_mcmonigle
Thanks, guys. I was worried I might've come into a grey-market bootleg or something.
