jmlphotography
In one particular film back, when I try to insert the cartridge with the film, the cartridge will not go all the way in and lock down. These are matched number components.
I know it's not the cartridge because I put it in another non-number matching film back and it worked fine.
I'm hoping there is a fix as simple as unlocking a lens.
dave_wilson1
Sounds like something is misaligned. Don't force it. Try gently wiggling it while it's going in, see that the toothed mating gear is maybe a bit off and you could turn it a little, or put that insert in another holder and run it through a few frames so it resets. dave_wilson1
Sorry, I misread what you said, the insert works in another holder. If you put another film insert in the magazine, then does it work properly?
jmlphotography
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I tried other cartridges in the case and they don't work. The problem is definitely limited to the case that you put the cartridge with film into.
tim_ludwig2
It almost sounds like there may be damage to the splines on the back which could cause it to limit how far you can insert the cartridge. I would look carefully at those and see if there might be a small bit of metal spawling off and retarding the ability of the mating gear to get fully seated. I would also look at all grooved fittings for the same thing. Also, look carefully at any possibility of the light seal material possibly protruding into an area that would impede the full closure of the parts?
jmlphotography
Thanks. I've examined the magazine for anything that looks like it might be off but I'll look specifically for the things you have mentioned. I'm out of town till Jan. 1 but will check it out as soon as I get back.
