kam_kozalak
I have a rough spot when focusing my 35mm f2 Ais lens. It is only at one point (towards infinity), and more pronounced when lens is held at certain position (on camera, parallel to the ground in landscape orientation). It has been like this for years, but not getting any worse. You feel it; it is like going over a little rusty spot, some very little sticking point somewhere there, or an uneven section of the helicoid, but the lens focusses well, nevertheless. It bothers me though. Would a cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment take care of such things. Thanks for your help.
donbright
Cleaning, and Oil certainly fits the remedy of which you describe. I just went through this with a few of my Nikkor AIS lenses, got the fix, and glad for it. There's a special mind set when everything works well as intended with ones camera. Fidgety focusing is a pet peeve of mine, I'm not one to tolerate it.
craig_shearman1
CLA probably would fix it. But if it's focusing fine, then I would leave it alone on the theory if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not to mention that the CLA could cost as much as the lens is worth.
BrianS1664879711
As Don Bright has testified... yes, that will fix things up to the point where the lens will probably act just like it did when initially purchased. The cost isn't very much. A few years ago it was about $50 at a Nikon Authorized repair shop.
...
