guus_giesbergen
my son of 15 really likes fast cars, so we went to such an exhibition.
One thing for sure : I have a very different view on the matter :)
.

.

.

.

.
duane_mills
Terrific photos Guus and an awesome kick off for POTW. What process did you use for the effects? In camera HDR or was it done afterwards?

Here are a couple of shots from yesterday. My 15 year old daughter accompanied me on our hike but chasing icebergs has lost its appeal for her at 15. We still had some terrific father / daughter talking time so it was time well spent.

duane_mills
Here's a second…The blue band is pure ice from a previous waterline.

duane_mills
Here's a third for perspective. The tourists in the photo are approximately 200 feet above sea level so that should give some idea as to how tall the iceberg is...

guus_giesbergen
@Duane:
* I used photomatix with personal settings for post-processing on 2, 3 and 4, shot wit 8mm. The first is a mix of original with a cartoon-esque filter.
* I'm baffled at the thought of being able to go iceberg-spotting ! Makes beautiful like magical pics, too.
* And yes I am also very happy with my 21 and 40 mm :)
duane_mills
Thanks Guus. I'm a Mac user and I see that Photomatrix is available for Mac. Are you using Photomatrix as a stand alone program or as a plug in for Lightroom or Aperature? Is it Photomatrix Essentials you have utilized or Photomatrix Pro? Sorry to be asking so many questions but I really like the results you have achieved in this weeks POTW.
guus_giesbergen
I use Photomatix pro (without the 'r') as stand-alone. It offers many modes for adjusting. Single photo's need to be shot in raw, but multiple bracketed pics also in jpg.
bob_marz
WOW Guus!!!

A couple from another trip to the Adirondacks of northern New York. This time the famed Ausable River for fly fishing.
http://www.whitefaceregion.com/recreation/fishing
#1 The River

bob_marz
#2 The Catch
It's not easy to fool these fish. It is very heavily fished everyday by more skilled fishermen than me.
Of course, the BIG ones got away!

RickW
Guus, love the compositions, but not the HDR-like processing.
Duane, I'd love to see a reeeealy large print of the first one!
Yury, you got some very nice shots, especially the first two, and especially considering that low light isn't the K-7's forte.
Rick
denise_savage
Guus - nice. Great catch Bob - given the circumstances of the river. I have a couple to add to the thread. Both around the sea - on the west coast of Australia near where I live.
