While a lot of people were taking the day off from work, I kept up with some very hard working farmers, continuing with a documentary project that's pretty much all video work. But I still hit the normal shutter button once in a while, even if it's just a way of doing some visual note-taking.

This first shot is a focal test while I rigged up to get as close as possible for a moving sequence as a big powered hay rake zoomed by, kicking up all manner of stuff to get on my lens and in my nose. Definitely keep your hands and feet away from the hay rake!

What did the weekend have in store for you? Share!

Matt Laur
Some local boys and their hard-working farm dog were mesmerized by the proceedings. Well, the dog was actually trying to herd the tractors until his mom called him off. Good dog.

Matt Laur
For some of the video work, I suction-cupped a D3200 to the rear glass in one of the tractors, the better to get some over-the-shoulder video as the operator drove the tractor pulling the hay rake.

ShunCheung
Concert at the San Francisco Symphony with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) and pianist Yuja Wang. We had a thread on concert photography a few weeks ago. I found some opportunity between pieces to capture this image, when Thomas was holding a microphone to address the audience.

I was a bit surprised that Yuja Wang was reading the score on an iPad, not a traditional paper music score. However, they still had a dedicated person to touch the iPad every so often to "flip the page." There was no remote control.

Nikon D800E with 85mm/f1.4 AF-S at f2, 1/160 sec and ISO 1600.
