gordon_paine
I have many 35 mm still negatives from 1966-1968 that were shot on Eastman type 5251 color negative film (produced from 1962 to 1968), which was used for shooting Hollywood movies. I would like scan the negatives and make prints, but the mask color is different from that used on films intended for still cameras, and I have no idea how to handle this. Can anyone provide help?
Many thanks.
custom film holders for fl
The extra large set of controls that Vuescan has (e.g. locking base color) might give you the tools you need to do the job. Vuescan has a free trial so you can download and experiment with it before buying to see if you can acquire the results you want.
keith_b1
Be forewarned that that film stock (and all the Eastman Color Negative stocks until about 1980) reliably suffers from rather severe dye layer fading, and therefore may require a more elaborate color restoration than modern, less fade-prone films.
