This is bowling coach Michelle Mullen, working with her publisher's photographer to capture the 200 or so illustrations that will appear in the new revision of her best-selling instructional book, due out this spring. He was using a D700, a 24-120 (I think), and three White Lightning monolights in softboxes.

00cHC7-544578684.jpg.d7b0b0ee22a62dcacf8dd11d056b6552.jpg

A week ago, I walked by my local library and saw this new display outside. I immediately recognized that it must be segments of the Berlin Wall, as I have seen similar parts of the Berlin Wall at the Ronald Reagan Presidental Library before. We realized how tall it is and it must have been very difficult to scale it.

Unfortunately, in this case the wall segments are protected by plastic cases such that there are serious problems with reflection. I ended up using a polarizer.

Nikon Df with 18-35mm AF-S lens at 24mm, f5.6, 1/13 sec, ISO 100 and Nikon polarizer on tripod.

Just in caes anybody would like to visit this location, I had the GPS on: 37°23'26" N 122°5'1" W

00cHE0-544582584.jpg.d468d1805a251e2ba45ded90b5394037.jpg

These were taken in my driveway on Boxing Day afternoon. My first excursion outdoors with the D800E. After 5 weeks I am again mobile (slipped off a small cliff on a wet day...) and I am beginning to bond with the new guy although I keep missing the shutter button for some reason. I guess it has been repositioned from the D700 (I don't have one here to compare).
It has snowed here everyday since November 24th except for three and with the exception of one 5C afternoon, it has been real cold. February cold. Unfortunately for my Queen, I haven't been able to even lift a snowshovel ;) even if she would let me.
Happy New Year to you, Matt, and all Photo.net members with wishes for peace and prosperity in 2014.

00cHEs-544583984.jpg.047c0745acff0b422be0db0ebab666a2.jpg

Unfortunately the crowd of 20000 was so tightly packed that I could not get in position for the fireworks at midnight so I decided to try to make the most out of what I could photograph from where I was. Which was not so bad. ;-) Due to the televised broadcast, the stage lighting was very nice also for still photography.

00cHH1-544587184.jpg.d6a9c32097ffe004e2bd03cd2fcbbbee.jpg

Greetings to all on the first day of the year :)

This afternoon I decided I to take my camera and go for a walk. After leaving the house I then resolved my walk was going to be a lot shorter than originally planned and next time I'd check the temperature first.
(also had some fun playing with split toning in lightroom)

00cHH5-544587284.jpg.321785d4b875b9deb9e294e1987d64e0.jpg

Happy 2014 to all! We've been pretty quiet today, and it's snowing, so I spent a little bit of time capturing our world on this new year's day. The snow was the biggest showoff so I'm sharing our buried flowerpots. Spring is less than three months away!

00cHIb-544589584.jpg.d217b104564d8d20a3e1d06651c2451c.jpg
