FPapp
I highly recommend Authorized Photo Service!
http://www.nikoncamerarepair.com/

What's wrong with the camera?
pemongillo
Stupidity. I have gotten a recommendation for this place from two sources independent of each other and no one else. That's good enough for me. I'll call them this morning and see what they can do for me
ShunCheung
Plenty of us have good experience with Authorized Photo Service, although in my case I have used them exactly once.

Nikon's own repair should still be the best place to repair Nikon DSLRs. If you had bad experience with them before and would like to try someone else, Authorized should be a good candidate. I would definitely check with them to see whether they can fix your type of problems to begin with.

ShunCheung
Paul, see this thread from 8 years ago when APS repaired my gray-market 200mm/f4 AF-D macro: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00BxJs

Since that lens is gray market, Nikon USA repair was not an option for me.
