hbs
For an interesting look at this whole topic that I'm sure will create a lot of controversy here, check out this recent essay on Luminous Landscape:

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/full_frame_myth.shtml
aplumpton
I think Michael R's conclusions are a bit outdated, if not quite subjective. When he says that (except for the Sony A7) nothing exists that is smaller and lighter than the FF DSLRs, he ignores FF cameras like the Leica M9 and M that offer full frame and high MP count (24 for the new Leica) and a full line of optics. These two models and the two Sonys are clearly much smaller than the large 24MP and 36MP FF DSLRs.

This is not to knock the very excellent APS and Micro 4/3rds cameras and their optics, just an attempt to put the record straight.

If I wanted or could afford a digital MF like a Hasselblad or Leica S and their lenses I would likely have that, while recognising that the FF Sonys, Nikons, Leicas or others are not capable of the same large print quality. Same for the differences between the cropped and FF cameras.
