<p>Is there any word on how the Blue Ridge Parkway will be affected by the government shutdown?</p>

<p>The Blue Ridge Parkway – as well as North Carolina State Parks – are open for driving, hiking and outside exploration. However, the facilities along the Blue Ridge Parkway including welcome centers, bathrooms, museums and other education centers along the parkway will be closed.</p>

<p>Be advised that the only two places to overnight on the Parkway, the Pisgah Inn and Peaks of Otter have been closed by order of the Nation Park Service because of the so-called shut down. On Friday, about noon, park rangers blocked the three entrances to the Pisgah Inn. Guests were ordered to leave and given a refund. The PI is a private business which leases the property from the NPS. </p>
