saintelmo21
Time for our monthly photo thread; the tiny bit of flavor in an otherwise extremely informative environment...Put 'em up if you got 'em. This is from the Gulf Coast, a view of a some waterfront property damaged in the great storm of 2005. Recovery is still ongoing down there; let's not even mention the Deepwater Horizon (may Jason Alexander and his crew rest in everlasting Peace). Hasselblad 500C 80mm lens Fuji Velvia 100f. Slide film is always a challenge for me with my Hassy, I don't know why.

ondebanks
For this photo, I popped the IR-block filter off the digital back, and put an IR-pass Cokin-P type filter over the lens .

Mamiya 645AFD, Kodak DCS645M back @ ISO100, 45/2.8 "S" lens (IIRC) @ f/11 or f/16.
2 handheld shots, 1/125 sec for the lower part and 1/180 sec for the upper part. ondebanks
I like the other photos so far.

E., you've captured the southern ambience nicely. That "Southern Contraption" looks like a witch-ducking device!

Ludwig, excellent light and shadow in your fire escapes shot.
Same applies to your beach shelters, Bogdan.

Ben, your first one is intriguing - the reflections are so clear they almost fool you into thinking you are looking at the park through the building.
ben_randall
Hi Ray. You are indeed looking at the park through the windows, there is no wall on the other side, just a canopy and sheltered area.
western_isles
This shot was taken some time ago when I still had my Mamiya TLR. The animals in the foreground were very obliging and stayed exactly where they were. I suspect because it was such a hot day. In the Hebrides we tend not to get hot days.

srmenon
Bogdan,
Loved the first picture. generally the punchy look that Velvia 50 has does not excite me but it really works for that picture.

Chad,Ben,
Nice pictures, Isnt Portra a wonderful film!

Ludwig,
The second picture is beautifully composed, first one is a little tonally flat for me.
Scott,
Tmax is wonderful and the picture is breathtaking in its detail.
E. Short,

Thank you for setting up this thread again..Slides can be frustrating but the rewards are amply demonstrated by your shots.
Here goes, better late than never, three pics from my recent trip to SF. Have not had the opportunity to color correct the pictures from the lab scanner. All of them are from my RZ67 Pro II with the 90mm lens. Sadly did'nt have room for my 65 mm

<a title="Union Square by Filmn00b, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7423/9917213474_8d7d268870_z.jpg" alt="Union Square" width="512" height="640" />
Union Square,Ektar 100

thatguychad
Suresh,
Thank you. I'm just recently getting back into film and I've only shot about 5 rolls of Portra, but I do like it. I also like Ektar (only shot 2 rolls) and the many layers in your shot above. So far, I like Ektar better, but only because I've had better luck processing it (my fault, I'm sure). I think I'm figuring out the issues I had with the first couple of rolls. Still, of the couple of rolls I've processed correctly, I'm getting better results than my local lab (and for less money.)

saintelmo21
Great photos from EVERYONE this month. Excellent commentary as well (I think that's the best part of w/nw threads). I've been too busy to check back until now. Robert, nice to see you posting here. Chad welcome back to film...for me the real strength of medium format is family portraiture...but maybe that's because it's what I use it for :-I
thatguychad
Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be back. Shooting film and processing it myself gives me much more satisfaction than digital because I feel like I "made" something, even though my end result is viewed on a screen most of the time. I have a B&W enlarger, but no space to make a darkroom for making prints....someday, though.
