norman_mayersohn
I have been using a Coolpix 995 and SB-28 (mounted on the SKE900 bracket) with reasonable success, but wonder if one of the newer DX Speedlights offers better compatibility. Specifically, I would like the strobe to wake up from the standby mode with a half press of the shutter button, as it does with an N90S. I know that I can cancel the standby mode of the SB-28 manually, but would prefer to keep this battery-saving feature operational. Does anybody know if the SB- 50DX/SB-80DX will do this auto wakeup? robd
The 80DX does not wake up with my CP950, I don't know about the 995. I was shooting my daughter sledding the other night, it was almost total darkness mixed with a lot of white and she was wearing dark colored clothing. I was very surprised at just how well exposed the shots came out with the combination. I expected some underexposure with all the white but it didn't happen...of course the flash cost me more then the camera, so I guess I shouldn't be too suprised. norman_mayersohn
Rob, Let me push ahead to another feature: Does the SB-80 strobe head zoom when you zoom the camera lens?
robd
I don't know. I didn't pay attention to that. I just remember that I had to keep pushing on/off the button to take the flash off of standby or it would not fire. I'll try to remember check it and get back to you, but life's kind of busy right now.
