Last weekend went to beautiful Jalama Beach, north of Santa Barbara (California). Remote (although is just 30 mls from freeway, but it feels like another world) and peaceful place with great campground and lot of sea birds.

00b0OM-502947584.jpg.5171b6cb1775b2d7c1794e5a59ebd9e3.jpg

A couple weeks ago in the Alabama Hills (Lone Pine, CA).
I was leading a camera club trip and had planned a sunrise shot with the first light hitting Mt. Whitney through Mobius Arch. A big storm was coming over the Sierra with black clouds hiding the highest peak in the lower 48. The compensation price was even sweeter, a full rainbow over the arch.

D800 + Nikon 16-35/4 @ 16mm

Happy Wednesday everyone. Kent I love your portrait of Daphne, I think it goes very well with Ian's cute Cheetah cub portrait. Fluffiness everywhere!

Ash die-back disease (Chalara fraxinea) is big news in the UK at the moment, and I went out to check some trees in our favourite local woodland. Fortunately I didn't find any signs of the disease, but I did find this interesting fungus on a dead branch........

I hadn't been able to take a lot of pictures lately, so it's good to be back! This week I was actually assisting a shoot from a friend of mine, but I did take a few snaps with my camera too.

Nice work. Nothing special from me here, I have not been up to much. I "tested" a solar filter that was supposed to be for my telescope but had some peripheral damage. Excluding the defect, I adapted it to 77mm and mounted it on my 24-70 and IR converted D7000. The filter basically looks like mirror, but seems to mostly permeable to IR (though I exposed 2 seconds at ISO 1600).... now I just need some sun...
