Any "secret" photo sites?

Heading out to Oregon next month. We plan to visit Lassen Volcano, Crater Lake and Glacier. I'd welcome any suggestions for good photo spots other than the traditional tourist ones.
Also, while in Oregon we hope to visit some places. People have suggested the Rogue River Gorge (very near where we will be staying), Silver Falls, and Toketee Falls. Any opinions as to which is best?
BTW, we're geezer-age so we don't do a whole lot of climbing up cliffs, etc.
Thanks!

Sometimes the traditional tourist spots are prime photo ops. You won't want to pass up Bumpass Hell at Lassen. The lakes might have nice wildflowers around them. If you're up for a semi-adventure (mostly flat terrain, but sandy soil), check out the Painted Dunes and climb the Cinder Cone.

The Oregon coast has many scenic spots that offer some great photo opportunities, if the light and the weather happen to cooperate. Oregon Caves is a bit off the beaten track, but also great if you're interested in that kind of photo environment. I second the recommendation for Lassen, but don't forget to bring along your bug repellant!

Wow, that's a lot of ground to cover, and you will have a lot of opportunities along the way. I would second the Oregon Coast; add Mt. Rainier on the Sunrise side, throw in some time in the Columbia River Gorge and spend some quality time around Flathead Lake. But each of these could be a trip on its own.

Definitely make sure you get a couple of sunrises and sunsets at Crater Lake, and it is one of the places where midday photography is stunning because of the colors the lake gets under clear skies.

It looks like you be driving north from CA. to Glacier NP in Montana?
if you are then exploring eastern OR might be an option. The painted hills is not a traditional tourist spot.

Heading north to mt hood the medows should be in bloom since we had a late summer this year.

Heading north head for Hoodriver OR and you will be at the eastern end of the columbia river gorge.

since you will be traveling east head on over to the Palouse harvest should be just about over but I heard they had a late start this year and we kind of had a wet summer.
Link to more Oregon images http://riwong.smugmug.com/Travel/Oregon/10231873_zwL6tQ

Some of the places you mention are on the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, which is in large part a tour of some really cool waterfalls. A "secret" spot is National Creek Falls off Hwy 62 on the way from Medford to Crater Lake. A short but slightly steep walk gets you there from the parking area. On 62 also consider Pearsonny Falls, Mill Creek Falls, and stop in Prospect for lunch. Either that or Becky's near the Rogue River Gorge. All this info is available locally at the Ranger Station on 62 or on line - I think this is national forest land so try their web site. From Medford to the coast is a 3 or more hour drive on 199 - a lovely drive, but long for someone with time constraints. From Lassen you could go by Lava Beds NM past Klamath Lake (birds, waterfowl) to Crater Lake then out to Roseburg via parts of the Scenic Byway (above). Lots of possibilities. Have fun.
