jmaphotography
Can someone suggest why Raw CR2 images imported into Lightroom 4.1 from a Canon 1DS Mk3 are way overexposed when the AUTO tab is clicked? Didn't happen in LR 3.6, and I am aware of the new LR 4.1 process. This shouldn't happen, in my opinion, although the sliders can be adjusted.....then I wouldn't need to click on the AUTO button. Seems a complete waste of time at the moment!
Is there a default setting that needs to be set, or is it the nature of the beast, to make us work harder?
Hope help is out there, as I can't seem to find the answer yet.
travismcgee
I noticed that too. Auto Tone in Lr 3 was kinda okay, but it's usually pretty awful in Lr 4. Fortunately, the tone sliders in Lr 4 are much, much better.
geoffrey_swenson
I’d like to know as well how to normalize Auto Tone in Lightroom and in Photoshop Raw. In the meantime, if I need the Auto Tone; After it performs its “magic?” I just reset the Exposure Slider to 0. Usually I don’t need to adjust that anyhow.
cletus_lee
LR4.1 is using a new process version. And I think AutoTone is broken but still useful. For me, reducing the "whites" to zero is usually all that is necessary.
