D800 Availablity

<p>Just I heads up for those interested. I was checking the Nikon Store every morning for the last couple of weeks. This Monday, it showed that the D800 was available for purchase direct from the Nikon Store. Ordered it Monday, arrived today.</p>

<p>Wow, almost 3 months after the initial announcement. I think the D800 has sent a new precedent in being back ordered for a Nikon camera.</p>

<p>I hope too many people didn't put stock in the theory that the camera would be readily available soon after launch.</p>

<p>Amazon UK are no longer listing it as available and it's reverted to being on back order on most UK websites, although it was shown as in stock only last week. Also I see that scalpers have jumped into the gap and are asking anything up to 20% over the RRP - b*st*rds! Makes me think that Nikon may be considering another price hike in the UK and Europe.</p>

<p>I bought mine April 9th at a webshop in and my wife put my name on the waiting list the week before at a leading store in Copenhagen - but nothing has happened yet. Unfortunately I sold my D300 back in April, because I thought I was early out. Wrong decision ;-)</p>
