IIIf 4th of July fun

Grabbed the ol' IIIf on the way to my parents' house for the 4th of July, and then had to get whatever film at the drugstore - they had Kodak 400. Didn't have time to go out of my way to get my usual Ektar 100, but the speed was welcome. I still love film!

400 was all the store had. I'm pleasantly surprised by the color too. It wasn't "needed", but it was nice to be able to go to 1/1000 for the action shots while using a small aperture for DOF. Also the last two shots were taken about dinner time. Lens was the collapsible 50mm f/2 Summicron.

Great stuff Jack. IIIf with a collapsible 50 cron has to be a tiny dream team. I've never had a pre-M Leica.
Whenever I've had to check for film at a drugstore or grocery store lately, they might have the kodak 800, which I don't care for, or the drugstore brand. It's getting pretty tough if you leave home without enough/any film. I've found myself drooling for just some Kodak Gold of any speed with no luck.

Yeah Mark, it's a nice size. Once you get used to the separate RF/VF thing it's a pleasure to use. I also have the 5cm Elmar, and that really slides into a pocket, but the cron is better.

Jack, Nice work. I have the same combination iiif w/5 cm collapsible cron. I must say, from your pics, you are faster with it than I am. I was abysmal getting action shots with it. Finally broke down and put the cron on an M2 and now it works better for me.

Again, nice work.

Best,
