Photo of the Week comments disappearing?

<p>I was looking at the comments for this POTW, and as far as I can tell, many of the comments have been deleted, and the only ones remaining are positive ones.</p>

<p>Since I'm sure that no one would think it appropriate to sanitize the "historical record" of these discussions, it must just be a temporary hiccup in the system, right?</p>

<p>I'm usually the only one who follows the POTW discussions and as they've been pretty mellow recently, I've not been particularly hawk eyed about it. Of course, there's always the chance that something went too far and was edited out. But that would be pretty rare for me not to have been the one doing it and even rarer for me not to hear about it if another admin did it.</p>

<p>That having been said, that's not what happened here. For those who don't know, the POTW system is actually a forum in and of itself. Once an image is chosen for discussion, a forum thread is created and then those forum posts are added onto the image's critique comments area. As you can see, all the comments are on the POTW forum thread:</p>

<p>Now, why are they not showing on the image? It could be one of two things.<br>

1. There's a glitch.<br>

2. We may only leave the POTW thread comments ON the image for the week that the image is "the" POTW. I honestly can't remember.</p>

<p>Josh, yes, the comments that came in as POTW comments (as opposed to comments that came in through the critique queue or directly onto the critique page of the photographer's portfolio) get linked and no longer appear after the week in which the photo has appeared. (Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for the comments to disappear and just be accessible through the link.)</p>

<p>What you will notice if you go to the photo after the week in which it appeared as POTW is that there is a paragraph directly below the photo saying that it had been a previous POTW and there is a link in that paragraph that says "READ DISCUSSION." That is the link to take you to the actual POTW discussion.</p>

<p>You'd think I would remember this stuff, but some days I feel like I've forgotten more than I know about this site.</p>
