Nikon CPL question

I've recently bought 52mm CPLII filter on ebay. It makes a bit shuffling noise when the ring is rotated. Is that defect or just normal thing. Normaly I wouldn't bother at all but it was quite expensive. Thanks for answers and sry for spam :) </p>

<p>Rastislav, does the movement feel rough as well as making a noise? None of the polarizing filters I've handled have ever felt rough or made a grating or scuffing noise, even the cheapest no-brand ones. I suspect that some grit has got in or the lubricating grease has been omitted. Send it back.</p>

<p>well its not rought(at least I think).It just make the sound. It's like when you use manual focus lens but a little bit louder.</p>

<p>If it doesn't feel rough or gritty, then it's probably OK. Nikon may have taken to using a dry lubricant, in which case some noise might be expected. None of my manual focus lenses make any noise at all when they're focused, BTW, so that doesn't really help with imagining the noise.<br>

You might want to post a video with sound on Flikr and see what others there think.</p>

<p>These newer model Nikon Polarizers do have a different sound and "feel" when rotated. Actually I find it smoother, with a nice amount of drag that increases with velocity. I wouldn't worry as long as it doesn't feel gritty.</p>
