davidimage
Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody else has had this issue. Seems not as I've had a search on the net.

When I press the shutter release to meter the photo on my OM4 the beeping starts going crazy, erratic and very fast. It seems to meter fine and it doesn't affect the shutter at all but it's really strange. It does this consistently and is different from the beeping when it is over exposed. It will continue for what seems like a random period of time after I try to meter.

I was thinking perhaps the battery isn't the correct type, but there are no issues when using my OM3. It's the standard energizer SR44 replacement.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
David

john_hermanson2
Make sure batteries are clean new silver oxide (357, SR44W, G-13, MS76, KS76), then make sure bottom cover screws are tight. You should also have the unpainted battery cap. Black battery cap can cause this problem. After that, problem may be under the top cover. davidimage
Thanks John, it was a case of it being loose. When I pushed on the cap it worked fine so I tried to tighten it but couldn't get it to stay tight enough to work without pressure. I swapped the cap with the motor drive cap and it works fine now!
I couldn't see much difference with the two caps but I must have switched them at some stage which would explain why it suddenly started happening.

Cheers

David
