Like most of the Dallas area, we spent an hour yesterday sheltered in the closet. Even though our house was never in immediate danger, it was unnerving to listen to sirens and the constant weather updates from the weather radio and local radio for several hours. The border collie tucked himself into the closet and didn't come out until I pulled him out.

00aEBE-455419584.jpg.f60272781ff6bda550d7519cf52a470d.jpg

This is the rare swearing in ceremony and badge presentation for sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknowns.
On Friday three new soldiers from the Old Guard joined this select group that guard the Tomb at Arlington National Cemetery.
There are only about 600 soldiers who've ever earned the honor of guarding the tomb.
The location is called the chapel of the Unknowns and is located beneath the amphitheather. It was a great privledge to be allowed to attend the ceremony.
Lot's of great photos this week.
Oh, this was taken with then new Nikon D4 and 10.5mm lens.

00aECH-455431584.jpg.b31d8ca8e2e5cb41d87c30a8ad0345b0.jpg

Happy Wednesday Nikonistas! Thanks to Jamie Harre for mentioning my photo last week.

A combination of work and foul weather has kept me from doing any photo stuff this week. Here's a macro from a couple of weeks ago while I was experimenting with off camera flash. The flower is only about 1.5cm across.

00aEDG-455445584.jpg.8b38dfe1afb5c187b010d586b69c60e7.jpg

Hi Guys,
Great shots everybody...cheered me up, some stunning stuff in here this week..to many to single out.
Not had much time to rake through the HDD, back on the Barge...sadly leaving an elderly and ailing Dog who had to be put to sleep yesterday...been a hard few days. This is one of my best shots of her...shows the wheels turning...they were always turning, especially if there was food about.
D40 with a Sigma 150mm Macro, I forget the settings.

00aEFc-455477584.jpg.5df0d925c0fd3fd49fa1f9031a0720a0.jpg
