eric_haase
I am looking for a wedding photo album printing service. Up until now I usually worked with other photographers and let them take care of the album. Now that I am on my own I have run into some annoyances. Mainly I am looking to design a modern magazine style album which i can do on my own. However I am looking for printing service that I can upload finished spreads and have them print and bind the album. Although I have found some services that offer this I have had trouble finding pricing and technical information. Mostly they seem to limit available information to registered users. I do not want to register to several places just to find out this information especially since several ask for credit card and and other information of that matter. What would be a good service that does this more straight forward and allows for photographers that are not looking use the service often?
keithdunlop
I have never heard of an album company requiring credit card information in order to register and obtain pricing. I would be interested to know which company asked you this. The higher end companies do, however, limit pricing information to professional photographers only. Therefore you have to provide some evidence that you are a pro. A website usually suffices.

As far as specific album company recommendations; I do flush mount albums with Leather Craftsman (using prints I supply from ProDPI), and press books from Asuka Book and ProDPI. Others will have other recommendations -- there are lots of options.

picturesque
You might try Bay Photo. Their prices are their prices, and are listed. Anyone can see them. This can also be a problem, however, if you intend to mark up albums, as your clients can see what you paid for them too. Of course, you don't have to tell your clients where you got your albums.

http://bayphoto.com/

Otherwise, the consumer level sites of several album companies would work. Somerset is one--an offshoot of Black River Imaging.

http://www.somersetalbums.com/album_prices.asp

Zookie Pro is an offshoot of Zookbinders.

http://www.zookiepro.com/mainsite/products2.aspx?type=LBProducts

Again--anyone can see prices.
eric_haase
Thanks for the help, also found http://iconophor.com, though it is based in austrailia. I'm not sure of which exact site wanted the credit card information, i think it was a site for high volume orders though, they also wanted to do a credit background check. These look like they will work for me. If they look up pricing it should matter too much as try charge for prints on top of editing fee. Thanks again though it helped a great deal.

One of these two seem be what I'm gonna go with
http://www.somersetalbums.com
http://bayphoto.com
fuccisphotos
Leather Craftsmen is my suggestion as well. I use their print and bind feature so I don't ever have to make a print myself. =) http://leathercraftsmen.net/joomla1/ They are really great people. When you call them you actually get a human being. It's nice ;)
