john_howard3
My D30 started underexposeing images about a week ago when I used my flash. I tried the on camera flash and got the same results as my 550. A couple of days ago it completely shut down. Won't even turn on. A friend of mine has just told me his d30 is starting to under everthing. Do we have a virus or is this a problem with the d30 that I haven't heard about. Thanks in advance....John

john_howard3
No... I did try three different batteries and cleaned the contacts to no avail. Thanks but that was the first thing I suspected as well!
NK Guy
Virus? That's an imaginative idea. I've never heard of anyone successfully writing virus code for a firmware device like a digital camera, though in theory it's likely possible if the camera's firmware is flashable. If the camera has failed I'm afraid you're probably going to have to take it to Canon for repairs. Sorry that's not a very helpful answer.
yakim_peled1
These may be two different problems. See http://www.kaax.org/D60_problems.
jersey_emt
Hmmm...sorta reminds me of the Powershot G2 problems in the past. A batch of G2's had a faulty part that shorted out and locked up the camera. Although with them, it happened all of a sudden with no previous "symptoms" like your underexposure problem.
