ahaohio
I got a MB-D80 grip as a birthday present recently. Feels good and all controls seem to be exactly where I want them.
There is - however - a strange problem with the unit and that is when I tighten the screw so that the grip is firmly connected to the camera (A D-90) the camera signals that it does not have a battery.
When I loosen the knop about one and a quarter turns it all works - but feels a little bit rickety.
I would expect poor electrical connection to be caused by the grip being too loose and not by it being firmly connected to the camera body.
And yes - I have thorougly cleaned all contacts. Did not help.
Ideas? Similar experience?
jay_poel
Did some Google searching for you and turned up this thread:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikondigitallearningcenter/discuss/72157608774436325/

Sounds like the middle pin in the battery compartment of your D90 is not lined up properly. There are some pictures that should help show you. Seems to be a problem for a few people. Mine worked fine - I have the same setup MB-D80 on a D90.

ahaohio
I have not fixed it yet - seems that the mid peg is where it is not supposed to be. So I will take the camera to a Nikon workshop as soon as I get a chance to do it.
Many thanks for the advice!
