rahi_ben_misha
Hi everyone

I see the new 1D is out and Im sure it is amazing! I used to own the 1st 1D (4MP) and sold it nearly three years ago when I was laid off. I hope to be in a position soon to buy a new setup. I have posted elsewhere re. Nikon but seeing the new 1D I decided to ask a specific question re. this camera range:

My favourite feature of the 1d was the ability to take multiple exposures of a composition, save them, and then get an an average for the whole shot. I really valued this feature and want to know what other Canon cameras - 40D? 50D? 60? 7D - have it (as I do not see me having the cash for the new 1D just yet :-))?

Thanks

Rachi

Gerry Whitmarsh
With the 1D Mk IV you can also take multiple exposure readings
rahi_ben_misha
As I was able to take multiple exposure readings with the 1D Mk i I assume all the 1D models since then have this. However, perhaps I should rephrase my question: as a new 1D one will be beyond my budget so I'm curious as to whether the XXD models have this function too?
sarah_fox
I'm 99% certain nothing from the 10D to the 40D (and the 5D) has this capability. I always read my manuals, and I've not run across it.
PuppyDigs
None of the XXD or XD series have multiple exposure blending built in. Besides, it's easier to control and blend them in PS.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
scott_ferris
Rahi, Do you mean multiple exposures, or bracketing? I think you mean bracketing and if you do then most bodies can do it to some degree, some can only do three exposures, the 1 series can do five or seven too. rahi_ben_misha
Scott, I did some research and the term Canon use is Multi-spot Metering.
scott_ferris
Rahi,

That is a 1 series only feature.
rahi_ben_misha
Thanks Scott. This gives me more impetus to buy into that series again. Probably a 'lightly used' 1D Mark II when the time comes.
