richard_john_edwards
G'day, I am looking for a shutter release for my nikon D700. I am not familiar with what is out there, so would like some opinions pro's and cons. Cheers Richard

richard_john_edwards
Does the mc 36 allow bulb activation for d700 ?
chris_graamans
Yes, the mc36 does bulb.
chriscourt
MC-36 is overkill if all you need is a remote release with bulb mode. The MC-30 will do this for around 40% of the price. Of course, there are many non-Nikon solutions to accomplish the same thing for even lower prices.

C
jyoungman
I've ended up using a non-Nikon solution. I'm a happy user of the Unleashed D200+ for GPS tagging photos in-camera. It occupies the 10-pin release socket and has a 2.5mm jack for activating the shutter. I do have a wired release for that, but it's more common for me to use a radio flash trigger to trigger it (the triggers also have a 2.5mm plug) even if I'm not actually using any flash with the triggers.
richard_john_edwards
Thank you all, I have decided to buy the MC 36, I think it will give me the outcomes I am looking for. david_prouty
This item is identical to the MC-36 except for possibly the heft of the cord. All the same functions, even looks the same, but is only $50!

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/690421-REG/Pearstone_RC_N1_RC_N1_ShutterBoss_Remote_Switch.html
