erin_mathias
HELP! I just recently purchased lightroom 3. I have a great how to book on it, but seem to be missing something.
I edited pictures from a session, and when I exported them and viewed on my computer the image quality went down. When I view the originals they look fine, but when I view the edited exports they are not as good and look bad 8x 10 and bigger. Wondering if it is the pixels that I exported them as? I want to be able to print pictures at a range of sizes. Any tips?
Thanks,
Erin
mark_sirota1
We'll need a better description of "image quality went down" in order to diagnose this.

What were your image sizing and JPEG quality parameters in Lightroom's Export dialog? A screen shot of your Export dialog would help, or you could just describe it to us.
erin_mathias
Thanks Mark. It is on a different computer, so I will update the post with that information later today.
Damon DAmato
In the same dialog Mark referenced, check to see what Color Space (sRGB, AdobeRGB, ProPhoto, etc) you used for export.

It's also important that the viewing application is Color Managed.
tom_mann1
If you want to have any hope of being able to enlarge an exported image to the same degree as the image from which it was generated, you need to specify (in the Export dialog) that the number of pixels in each direction (ie, the resolution) won't be changed. I suspect you may have inadvertently exported the images at a lower resolution.

Tom M
erin_mathias
Tom you hit the nail on the head! I forgot I had tried to resize it at somepoint. When I went to look at the info for Mark and Damon I realized the resize box was checked. I unchecked it and presto...it's fixed! I love simple fixes. Thanks guys!
