alphamaster
Hi all, there many topics on Canon's Off Camera Shoe Cord 3rd part that supports e-ttlfor DSLR, but none of them discusses clear what there are and where to find.Canon's original one comes as <i>Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2</i><br><br>The question is: <br>1) Do you know a 3rd part cord, of course cheaper than $80, which supports allfeatures (e-ttl). Where to buy it? Does it really work with dSLR+speedlite(350d+430EX etc). <br><br>2) there are some of them on e-bay <ahref="http://cgi.ebay.com/E-TTL-Off-Camera-Shoe-Flash-Cord-for-Canon-EF-EOS-ETTL_W0QQitemZ160088415012QQihZ006QQcategoryZ64354QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">like this one </a>. Did someone try it? <br><br>thanks in advanced for clear answer. Please, do not tell me to buyRadioTransmiter etc. We are talking about extension cord ! <br><br> <i>Alpha</i>

brucecyr
eBay item looks like the thing discussed here: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00K20k If it works, it works. Questions: Does it work? Is the potential savings worth the risk to you?
m3rdpwr
Didn't Canon just introduce a new one too? Weather sealed I thought... -Mario
Michael Eckstein
Promaster makes a cord that seems to be more heavy duty than others. I gone through a number of Canon cords and bought this one after reading Artie Morris's reccomendation http://birdsasart.com/accs.html#Flash%20Extension%20Cord/Off%20Camera%20TTL

alternative 3 more
So everybody has an answer as to brand. What about length of cord? I think most of these are built for 100 uses before the cord begins to have shorting problems, too weak a connection. But if anyone knows of a cord which is longer, say 6', let me know. I see that Dot Line has 3' cord but I have built a Light Box with doors 45" away for some diffused backlighting & want to be able to reach it. And I know I could pick up another flash wirelessly controlled by my 580ex, but I only want to use 1 flash & 2 continuous lights. Thanks.
mark u
Paramount Cords sells adapted OCSC2s with various cable lengths out to 100 ft. http://www.paramountcords.com/ttl.asp If you know what you are doing with a soldering iron and can get 6 core cable and maybe suitable 6 way connectors you could make your own longer cable version with or without a plug in extension.
