I'd love to see portraits done with the Fuji GW690 / 670 etc.... Any feedback much appreciated both positive and negative in regards to portrait capabilities of the Rangefinders.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice as usual.

Lovely photos, both of you! Frank, those portraits are excellent, and the colors are superb. I like how they don't appear to be exploitative in any way either -- it seems like you established a dialogue with these people and photographed them in a light that they would be comfortable with. So much of the photography of people in the developing world fails at that...
I just recently got a GS645, but have not done any portraits yet, so I will post one taken with the Hexar AF -- it is 35mm and AF, but for some reason I feel like they are cameras that occupy the same role -- a compact, high quality camera with a fixed moderate wide angle. I use them both in the same way...this one is a slight crop to square...
And here is one from the GS645, though not a portrait...

Thanks for the comments Stuart. I always try to have a chat with the subject or al least some gestures of body language when confronted with a language barrier. The camera I meant in the last sentence of my previous post is indeed the GS645.

The counter mechanism noise on my Fuji GSW 690 (as on the other 690 and 670 models) is the only downside to informal portrait photos, something I also had on my former Makina 670 (image below). The normal focal length lens of a 690 or 670 lets you get fairly close, although not quite as easily as a camera with a longer lens. On the other hand, the big negative and good reolution film can be cropped to allow you to shoot fromn a reasonable distance that doesn't create perspective distortions. The VF is accurate enough in those more remote shots.

This is not a traditional portrait, but a shot that shows what the Fuji GW690 does really well - environmental portraiture.
This shot is of a friend who is a mad scientist / amateur rocket scientist. It was taken on one of his certification flights. His rocket in the background is a hand-built multi-stage affair with digital navigation and telemetry, etc. etc. I think the flight was to 5000 feet.

00YfdO-354607584.jpg.f4ddcd7f5cc7bf8d7c16edf5b8cb8fc4.jpg
