osztertag
Can I use a "smart" EN-EL3e battery in my D50 instead of the oriiginal EN-EL3a ?
They appear to have the same voltage and power rating. Just that the "e" has an extra terminal which I believe if for reporting battery info to the camera.
Thanks in advance for your comments
Happy Easter
ShunCheung
Yes you can.

The D50 should have come with an EN-EL3 instead of EN-EL3a, but those two are completely interchangable. The EN-EL3a just holds a little more chage.

The EN-EL3e can be used on any older camera that takes either the EN-EL3 (D100, D70, and D50) or EN-EL3a (e.g. D70s). All models after those (e.g. D200, D80, D300, D700, D90, and D300s) can only accept the EN-EL3e.
