Nice shots so far this week. It's always worthwhile to check in.
Gej - beautiful sunset.
Jeff - great capture of the two surfers at different stages of their hobby.
My photo this week was taken yesterday, and it's of my son and my dad having a little fun with their hands.

00YH4n-334891684.jpg.2478cb16ebf993c8a1c546e7eec7be40.jpg

Good morning,

Long time no see! Life's making choices for me at this moment, and I need to schedule carefully. Nevertheless, a bit of fun does not do harm:

Greetings all. Thx to the loan of some gear I got to do a portrait session this last weekend with a friend. Was great fun and a great learning experience for me.
Again, stunning photos so far. Jana, I'm a big fan of vintage pinup, and I think you really cracked it. But then you do have the touch. Matt, wonderful timing. Gej, I'd put that up on my wall any day. Phil, the textures are awesome.

00YH55-334897584.jpg.8311f7b498696ae0ae13b78597fcdf99.jpg

My family was at a beach carnival this past weekend and happened to be on a Ferris Wheel when we caught a stunning, huge orange moon rising over the ocean - with only a wide angle lens on my camera. I got home about an hour later and captured this shot:

00YH6J-334917584.jpg.b772d287f16529185f6d867d282d946e.jpg

The days are getting longer and the sun warmer here in northern Ontario. This is a Campbell-Stokes Pyranometer (Heliograph), or bright sunshine recorder. When the sun is bright, it focuses through the orb to burn a paper strip inserted into the carriage at the back. The duration of bright sun is determined by measuring the length of the burn(s) on the strips. This highly manual and semi-objective methodology has been replaced by modern automated instruments. Besides that, it was hard to keep these instruments around because they were a frequent object of theft. Wynnie is helping me demonstrate it. You can see that the glass is definitely not Nikon quality!

00YH73-334927684.jpg.5583d875b9c7f5b3ececcfa3488aa191.jpg

Hi All,
Very nice Wed. as always.

I especially like:
Dan Brown's beer pic
Gej Jone's sunset
Jana Hughes' pinup
Grabt Tanners; shell
Tom Howd's eagle
Michael Mixon's portrait
Monika Epefass - wonderful!
Juho Niva's shot

More cold weather nudged me to set up some space in the basement and play around with some water drops. This one is a drop sitting on a CD and lit with a flashlight. D90 55/3.5 macro lens plus extension tube. Exposure unrecorded (as always) but probably around 1/200 sec at f/11.

00YH7h-334936184.jpg.e18e6bf51ab4d2cffdb6949881dd268f.jpg
