Autocord repair

<p>I searched for recommendations for a reliable repair person for a Minolta Autocord, but they all seem to be at least 5 years old. Tried reaching some of the repair people mentioned and got no response, which is not surprising since I think they were mostly approaching retirement age.<br>

So, has anyone had a recent successful experience getting an Autocord overhauled?<br>

<p>Essex Camera Repair in Carstadt, New Jersey did an excellent job of repairing my Autocord after the film advance stopped working properly. Essex specializes in repairs of older mechanical cameras and routinely manufactures parts that are no longer available -- last year they made a new diaphram from scratch for my Bronica S-series focusing unit for 1970-era Nikon 400, 600, 800 and 1200mm lenses.<br>

Karl Bryan in Beaverton, Oregon is a specialist who services only Minolta Autocords, Ricoh Diacords and Ricohmatic 225s. He's professional, reasonably priced and provides very fast turnaround. He's performed CLAs and repairs to numerous cameras for me over the last several years, including the manufacture of a helical focusing lever for the Autocord, and I've been very pleased with his service.</p>

<p>A followup: I sent 3 Autocords to Karl Bryan. He did an outstanding job, very quickly. His communications were friendly, intelligent and helpful. His prices were more than reasonable.<br>

I recommend him without reservation, and will use him again myself.<br>
