fred_grandinetti
Hi,

Would love to see some sample photos taken with the Nikon 105mm f/4 macro AI lens. I just purchased one and am awaiting its arrival. Also am waiting on an instructional manual to find out what tubes work with it for macro assignments.
Your samples would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
FredSG
lornesunley
The PN-11 tube gives it a 1:1 image size. I don't have the lens, just the tube.
Michael R Freeman
Used to own this lens, but traded it for the Ai-S 105/2.8 Micro.

Any of the Nikon PK tubes will work with it (PK-11, PK-11A, PK-12, PK-13), but the PN-11 tube was specifically designed to be used with this lens to give 1:1 magnification.

The lens has two reproduction ratio scales engraved in orange above the distance scale. The lower scale gives the magnification for the lens alone without a tube (from 1:10 to maximum of 1:2), while the upper scale gives the magnification for the lens when used with a PN-11 tube (from 1:2 to 1:1)

christoph_sensen
I have the Ai-S version of this lens, which has the same optics as the Ai as far as I know.
The picture below was taken with the lens on my D200 (five images total) and then stacked with Helicon Focus.
The optical quality of this lens is outstanding in my opinion.
Christoph

glenjo
D200 with 105 F4 AI. I might have missed focus a bit, focus is pretty thin even at f8. Bokeh is good.
