lindamccague
I very recently set up a small studio space. I primarily shoot weddings, but wanted to have a space to shoot maternity and babies etc. instead of always going to client homes.
A friend of a friend needed some fashion type shots (a first for me), so we tried out my new space and lights.
Used for these photos were 3 Alien Bees 800's. I used a strip box with grid for hairlight, softbox, and a beauty dish for some of the shots. We changed things up and I did different lighting with his different outfits. It was a lot of fun!
I'd love to hear some thoughts.

Matt Laur
Nice work! Way to squeeze excellent results out those Bees and modifiers.

Of course, I can't leave well enough alone: you might want to tone down those white strings from the red hoodie - they're a little distracting. Hey, if that's the worst I can come up with, right?

donnie_strickland
Well done! I would have liked just a tiny bit of light on his right eye in the second shot.
lindamccague
Thank you very much! I was thinking they eye needed more light and wondering if anyone would notice. I wasn't sure how to get it there as adding more fill would have it the entire side of his face. Maybe that would have been fine though.
Also... I had nothing to do with the hair/shave!
markonestudios
Hi Linda,

Good job :) Methinks a reflector would have done the trick as far as fill is concerned. Distance-to-subject would dictate amount of fill.

Finally, I would sharpen the images just a tad. To my eye they look a bit soft, then again, I could be wrong, on account of the small image size...

erin_moore3
Actually, they're quite good for a first time fashion shots. Looks like you nailed every aspect, even styling. Reminds me of that actor who married Katy Perry.... :)

Erin
Miami Fashion Blogger
